North Las Vegas Detention Center
If arrested or sentenced for committing misdemeanor crimes in North Las Vegas, people in custody will be sent to the North Las Vegas Detention Center. The North Las Vegas Jail also houses inmates from the Federal Bureau of Prisons, the Immigration and Naturalization Service, United States Marshal Service, and serves as an overflow holding center for the Clark County Detention Center.
City of North Las Vegas inmates are housed at the City of Las Vegas Detention Center located at 3300 Stewart Avenue. City of Las Vegas Detention Center personnel can be reached by dialing 702-229-6444.
Finding an Inmate at the North Las Vegas Jail
To obtain information about inmates housed within the North Las Vegas Detention Center, or North Las Vegas Jail, call 702-633-1400 during the hours of operation. The detention center is currently working on an online search tool for inmate information, but for the time being only has the information call line available.

Process of Bailing Out Inmates
The process of posting bail for a person in custody at the North Las Vegas Jail depends on the crime allegedly committed and the court’s orders. Our attorneys at The Defenders recommend you call the North Las Vegas Jail, 702-633-1400, to find out the guidelines for posting bail for a particular inmate.
If an inmate was charged with a misdemeanor committed within the city limits of North Las Vegas, you may post bail at the North Las Vegas Municipal Court during the hours of operation, or at North Las Vegas Jail if after business hours. The business hours for North Las Vegas Municipal Court, which resides in the same building as the North Las Vegas Detention Center, are Tuesdays through Fridays, between 7:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. The North Las Vegas Municipal Court may be reached 702-622-1130, located at 2332 Las Vegas Boulevard North.

How to Phone Inmates
Any person in custody at the North Las Vegas Detention Center may not receive calls from outside people. Inmates are allowed, however, to place collect phone calls throughout the day. To make such collect phone calls, a prepaid calling card may be purchased from the jail commissary.

For persons in custody not included in the above housing list, including violent or escape risk offenders, please contact the North Las Vegas Detention Center at 702-633-1400 to learn the current visiting times.
On days of visitation, inmates may receive only one visit a day with a maximum of three visitors at a time. All visits are limited to a half hour. At the North Las Vegas Jail, visits are conducted via video monitors and telephones.
To visit an inmate, they must place you on their list of approved visitors. If on the list, you should arrive at the jail at least an hour early with valid photo identification.
As a visitor, you may still be turned away if you have been incarcerated at the North Las Vegas jail in the past 6 months, if you show up drunk or if dressed inappropriately. The North Las Vegas Jail does not permit visitors to wear low cut tops or revealing tops, halter tops, spandex or athletic gear, tank tops or skirts and shorts shorter than four inches above the knee.
If visitors are under 18 years old, they must be accompanied by their legal guardian. Purses are subject to search and personal items are not allowed in the visiting area.

Mail is screened prior to inmate delivery. Persons in custody may not receive any packages or Polaroid photos.
Releasing Property of Inmates
At the North Las Vegas Detention Center, inmates may choose to have the jail store their property until they are released. They may alternatively sign a form to authorize the release of their property to an outside person. Inmates may not distribute their property to multiple people; all property must be released to one outside person at one time.
If property has been released to you, bring your valid I.D. and sign a release form at the North Las Vegas Jail lobby, located at 2332 Las Vegas Boulevard North, between 7:00 a.m. and 12:00 a.m. (midnight).
How to Transfer Funds to Inmates
To transfer money to an inmate’s books at the North Las Vegas Detention Center, money orders must be used. The money order may be mailed directly to the person in custody, using the same mailing address listed above, or may be brought to the cashier window in the lobby of the North Las Vegas Detention Center.
Notice, the North Las Vegas Jail does not accept Western Union Quick Collect at this time.
Shopping Privileges
The North Las Vegas Detention Center provides an in-house general store, known as the commissary. Here, persons in custody may use the funds transferred on their books to buy paper, toiletries, snack foods and prepaid calling cards. Inmates may make purchases once a week, in which their purchases will be delivered to them the following day.
