In order to visit a person in custody at City of Las Vegas Detention Center, or Las Vegas City Jail, the inmate must submit the visitor information to administrators at the jail. By providing the name (first, middle and last) and date of birth for all people seeking visitation privileges, administrators then process the information to see if they are eligible to visit an inmate at the detention center. This screening process can take several days, and the jail requires proper photo identification for visitor registration.
All visitors, including attorneys and anyone accompanying the attorney, must be pre-approved.
To check whether or not visitation has been approved at the City Jail, visitors should call 702-229-6444, option 3.
Visitors should allow at least 30 minutes for the check-in time prior to visitation. Visitation will be denied for any of the following reasons:
- Wearing improper or inappropriate attire
- Under the influence of illegal substances or alcohol
- Being a convicted felon
- Was incarcerated at the Detention Center within the last 6 months
- Has outstanding warrants
- Currently on active probation, parole or any other form of conditional release
- Constitutes a threat to the inmate or security of the jail
