The facility that houses over five hundred inmates, is located downtown sharing the  building with Henderson Justice Court and Henderson Municipal Court. The building is located at 18 E. Basic Rd. The Henderson Detention Center houses those people who are awaiting trial and those people serving Nevada misdemeanor sentences of one year or less. How to locate a person in custody at Henderson Detention Center?

To find someone who is currently in custody at Henderson Jail, use the jail’s inmate search page. For more imformation you can call the jail directly at (702) 267-5245, and the staff will then perform a name search.

What is the process to phone a person who is in custody at the Henderson Detention Center?

The general public is restricted from making phone calls to individuals in custody at the Henderson NV Jail. Exceptions for this restriction are phone calls from the inmates’ probation officers, lawyers and parole officers.

For the persons in custody they are able to make phone calls during daylight hours only. These collect phone calls are allowed to go to both landlines and cell phones, only if the phone service provider allows such calls. The jail commissary will sell phone cards for inmates to use.

What to know when planning to visit an individual in custody at Henderson Detention Center?

Those in custody at the Henderson Jail are only allowed to have two twenty minute visits a week, also there is a limit of two adults per visit. Children who visit are required to stay under adult supervision during the length of their visit. The hours for visitation are Wednesday through Sunday 8:00 AM to 11:00 AM and 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM.

The Henderson Detention Center is available to make exceptions of the twenty minute visitation limit when the visitor calls in advance and if the visitors are from out-of-town.

How to schedule an appointment to visit an inmate?

When scheduling an appointment for a visit of a person in custody at the Henderson Detention Center, call (702) 267-5245. If you call after 9:00 PM the day before the visit, you will not be able to schedule the visit.

Visitors to the Henderson Nevada Jail will be subject to a warrant check, and will be asked to provide their social security number when scheduling the appointment. All visitors must check in a half hour prior to the appointment at the jail, and will also be required to show picture I.D. before being admitted.

The Henderson Jail has a conservative dress code that is enforced for all visitors. Visitors are not permitted to wear:

  • sleeveless clothing of any kind including, tank tops, tube tops or anything with “spaghetti straps”.
  • short shorts, short dresses, or miniskirts
  • shower shoes
  • hats of any kind, including baseball caps, skull caps, and “du-rags”
  • articles of clothing that depict profane, sexually explicit, or derogatory language or graphics

It is important to keep in mind that all visitors be able to tuck shirts and blouses in, as well as having their underwear completely covered at all times.

Visits in the Henderson Jail always take place behind a glass wall while communicating through a telephone. Only attorneys are allowed to have “contact visits” with inmates.

Visitors are not permitted to give any property to those persons in custody during the time of their visit.

How do you send mail to persons in custody at the Henderson Detention Center?

The Henderson Detention Center will open and inspect all the mail to an inmate prior to delivery, excluding legal mail. Mail sent to the Henderson Jail may only include letters and up to ten medium-sized photos, not including Polaroids. Other items sent may be confiscated.

Things not to send:

  • stamps
  • cash
  • musical cards
  • stickers or cards with glue and glitter
  • items of a sexually explicit nature
  • items referring to the purchase or assembly of weapons
  • items or correspondence inciting anyone to commit or promote violence.

Outsiders are not allowed to send books or magazines to those in custody at the Henderson Detention Center. Inmates however are allowed receive these directly from the publisher.

What if I need to transfer funds to an individual who is in custody at the Henderson Detention Center?

Every person that is in custody at the Henderson Jail has an individual trust account. This account will hold funds that the individual may use during their incarceration. When someone gets arrested or sentenced to time in the Henderson Detention Center, all the money the person has with them is automatically placed in this account.

Friends and family of the inmate may also deposit money to their  book by bringing in a money order to the Detention Center Lobby which is located at 18 E Basic Road, Henderson, NV, and is open seven days a week from 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM and 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM.

Friends and family may transfer up to $100.00 per money order to the inmate. The money order should be made out to “City of Henderson Commissary Account” with the name of the inmate in the margin. The payer must sign his/her own name on the “purchased by” line. Outsiders can mail money orders to this address:

The Henderson Detention Center may not receive funds through Western Union Quick Collect.

What are the shopping privileges at the Henderson Detention Center?

Inmates can use Sundays as an opportunity to complete a purchase form for items from the Henderson Jail commissary, which is similar to a general store. At the Henderson Jail commissary the merchandise is typically just stationery, toiletries and snacks.

Commissary items purchased are delivered to the inmate on the Friday after they placed the order.

How do you bail out a person in custody at the Henderson Detention Center?

All bails to be posted must be done during business hours in Henderson Justice Court or the Henderson Municipal Court, both of these establishments are located at 243 Water Street, Henderson, NV 89015. Business hours are from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Mondays through Thursdays with Fridays off, excluding holidays.

After business hours, to post bail for an individual you will need to visit the “Jail bail gate,” which is located behind the courthouse building just off of S. Texas Ave.

The inmate’s criminal charges will impact what forms of payment may be accepted for bail.

The release times for those in custody are at 3:00 a.m., 10:00 a.m., and 9:00 p.m. Processing bail is a lengthy process, it’s possible inmates will not be released for a few hours after their bail is posted. To note, 9:00 a.m. is the daily release time for those completing a sentence.

How to retrieve property or vehicles belonging to individuals in custody at the Henderson Detention Center?

In order to release property and vehicles belonging to persons in custody at Henderson Jail, you will need to visit in person at the Detention Center Lobby, located at 18 E Basic Road, Henderson, NV. The lobby is open from 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM and 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM daily.

If you visit the lobby while it is closed, go to the walk-up window that is on the west side of the lobby, once there press the silver button to receive help.

To receive the property the person in custody must consent to the release, and you as the recipient must show a valid I.D.

What about Safety and medical needs at the Henderson Detention Center?

Individuals that are in custody are provided with orange uniforms to wear while they are incarcerated. Medically, a nurse is on call 24 hours a day at Henderson Jail to administer prescribed medications. Weekly visits are made to Henderson Detention Center by a physician and a psychiatrist.
